I have an honours bachelor´s degree in Bilingual Education from El Bosque University.
Throughout my professional career, I have worked as an English and Global Citizenship teacher in well recognized private schools and universities as well. I also had the astonishing opportunity of working in partnership with the Colombian National Army when the project “Plan Diamante” was carried out. In there, I not only taught English to Captains, Majors and Colonels, but also I trained them to take the international Exam: IELTS.
I have been invigilator and oral examiner from the First Certificate mocks and from the Cambridge Primary Checkpoint´s exams in private institutions. When living in Lyon, France (one of the most enriching, cathartic and healing experiences I have ever lived in my whole life), I worked as an English speaker during the English Day in “La Mache School”. My participation as speaker in such that great celebration was carried out with classes from the first academic year programs such as Steel Construction, Layout by Architectural Environment, and Design and realization in industrial boiler making. That experience was constructive because it allowed me to become closer to a culture completely different from mine, achieving a true cultural exchange with the students.
Thanks to the training that I received by the British Council, I learnt how to integrate the basis of the learning process (content and language) in my classes through the Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), in order for students to develop progressive and meaningful learning skills in a language. As a result of that challenging, arduous but undoubtedly, rewarding training, I got my certification on the Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) awarded by the University of Cambridge (ESOL Examinations).
I have to confess that I have always considered that one of the most satisfying aspects of working in Education is helping others to explore, to become inspired and therefore, to succeed in whatever they want to. That is why I am passionate at teaching and serving others, because I am someone who not only loves what she does, but also who always pursuits the best way to do it.
Personally, I do love music, watching movies, traveling, and sharing time with others, because I strongly consider that everyone and everything (even what we conceived as the worst in our lives) has something valuable to teach us.
